Purpose of this Module

Transcendence of stories

Learners understand the deeper history, nature, and value of storytelling, realising and harnessing their own power as individuals to craft a narrative.

An existence to note

A deeper awareness of the life and world that rotates around them is already a great **outcome of this Module. Learners embark on a 2-week “data hunt & gather”—which serves as an invitation to pay closer attention.

What we cover

• Introduction to data storytelling, relationship between story and data
• How to decide on a data story for your project
• How to collect data for your project
• How to parse and categorise your data using Google Sheets or Microsoft Excel
• How to generate a simple chart of your data in Sheets or Excel

Total time duration

Approximately 120 minutes (2 x 60 minute sessions)

• **Thinking 1:** What is your story?
• **Thinking 2:** What is your data?
• 2 weeks of data gathering

Homework

• **Homework:** Clean & parse your data in Sheets/Excel and generate a simple chart
